YPL match report Chapel A v Abbeydale 2 away

04th Nov 2016

2nd November 2016

No3s Simon Parke v Oscar Beach

Well I’ve been playing some youngsters recently in their 20’s but this whippersnapper had only just turned 16! Good young player though, recently came third in the u17 nationals and has some potential. I managed though at this level to be a little too experienced and came through in 3.

No4s Dec Christie v Murray Scott.

Dec has made good start to the season as usual, lets hope he doesn’t tail off and stays keen this year. Murray Scott has been playing in this league for over 400 years and was a little slow in the first not able to deal with Dec’s good early accurate play. Murray did get a little better but the match was only going to go one way, 3-0 Dec.

No5s  Cameron Ward v Eddy Stallworthy

Cameron is getting more confident each week for us and this week he was playing a familiar face at Chapel in Eddy who is studying at Sheffield. it was a battle of the students but Cameron was a little stronger and fitter which made the telling difference winning in 3 straight.

No2s  No2s Owain Tayor v Ollie Turner

This wasn’t a good performance from Owain by his already high standards. What i like about him though is that he is very aware of this and tries very hard to correct things. He has a pretty solid technique but is also quite gutsy and he had to be tonight against the grinding play of Turner. Turner gets everything back and doesn’t seem to do a lot but is hard to beat. Owain stuck in though and gutsed out a 3-2 win.

No1s Mark Fuller v Adam Murrills.

Mark has been getting  some great results for us and his game has been improving at 31, especially at the front of the court.

I have to say this was a highly entertaining match, i had earlier been watching some of the worlds in Cairo and this was just as exciting. Both players were playing attacking squash into all four corners, but perhaps it was a little too open for Mark to really get success. When he played a bit straighter with a more varied pace this seemed to work. NOT an easy task against Murrills who can pull out some incredible stuff. But Mark eventually came through yet again in 5 to give us the 5-0 win!!

YPL Match Report- Another great win for Chapel A
