Chapel A Welcomes New Head Coach – Will Brannan

08th Jul 2014

As most members will know, we have been in the process of reviewing the tennis offer at the club and specifically the role of the Head Coach and how this role fits with the requirements of the Club, both now and in the future.  We have recently gone through a selection process and interviewed a number of excellent candidates.  We are delighted to anounce that Will Brannan has been appointed as the new Head of Tennis at the club and will take up the post with immediate effect.

Will has been a member of the club as both a junior and adult, representing the club in junior tournaments and teams.  In recent years he has played for Chapel A in the Yorkshire League, National League and Winter Premier League competitions.  He has coached on the club programme and in recent years worked with some of our stronger juniors on squad sessions.

Most recently, Will has spent 7 years as Tennis Manager at Batley Sports and Tennis Centre creating a thriving junior and adult programme from both a participation and player development perspective; previous to this he has worked as a coach and manager for David Lloyd Leisure, including a national position developing participation, receiving an award for coach development at the annual conference.  He has experience of working with players to the highest level and is looking foward to coming back to the club where he started playing!  You will no doubt see Will around the club over the coming weeks as he beds into his new role, so please do say hello, and let him know any aspects of tennis at the club you feel could be improved or added to the current offer.

He will be joined at Chapel A by Ben Riby (currently Head Coach at Batley TC) at the end of this term’s tennis in preparation for the summer and launch of the September coaching programme.  Some of you will already be acquainted with Ben, who has also represented Chapel A in various mens competitions over the last few years.  Ben is a coach with fantastic knowledge and hitting ability.  He has played at a high level, including an appearance in the Wimbledon boys doubles final in 2000.  He has some great tennis experience that we hope can be passed on to our junior (an senior!) members.

Any enquiries regarding the programme or group and individual coaching should be directed to Will at
